Chapsicle of Love Update

 Well, the Chapsicle of Love continues to do a brisk business.  My wife and son have been acting as my hypemen.  They tell everyone the "the Minister is in!"  So far we've performed 23 vow renewals, 1 commitment ceremony and witnessed 4 vows of joyous singlehood.  We even had one triple ceremony with a group of couples who were friends.  I knew this would be fun, but its been meaningful too!  Love is always something to celebrate, especially in the middle of a deep, cold freeze like this!  You can bet everyone was wearing lots of layers to say I do!

Chapsicle of Love at Art Shanties Lake Bde Uma (Lake Harriet) This Weekend

 I'll be at the Art Shanties Festival again this weekend with our Chapsicle of Love!  Last week was a blast and this weekend looks to be even better.  As I get ready for a new round of free vow renewals, marriages and joyous declarations of singlehood at the Art Shanties Festival, I thought you might like some behind the scenes pictures of the installation.  The snow was deep!  It was not easy!  But Love is always worth it!

Chapsicle of Love - Art Shanties 2023

 

This weekend we started a new adventure!  Art Shanties 2023 began!  The festival runs for four weekends, 10-4 each day.  This year we're at the festival with our monumental tribute to love and lip balm.  Our Chapsicle of Love stands 7 feet high.  At the Chapsicle of Love you can get married, renew your vows, or declare yourself joyously single.  All for free!  This first weekend I presided over 6 vow renewal ceremonies and 3 declarations of singlehood.  This one little kiddo however, wasn't very excited about marriage - lol.  I remember feeling that way in my late 30's too.  

Art Shanties 2022!

 Happy to announce that I will be at Art Shanties again this year.  Last year, I was so gratified by the public's response to my on ice elf house village.  This year, we're introducing The Chapsicle of Love!  Here is a preliminary sketch:

The Art Shanty Projects On-Ice program will take place on Bde Unma / Lake Harriet from January 21 through February 12, 2023. Public hours are 10am – 4pm every Saturday and Sunday.
