Art Shanty Festival

 The Minneapolis Art Shanty Festival on Lake Bde Uma is very dear to our hearts.  This is our third year of building an "Art Shanty" for the Festival.  An "Art Shanty" is very much like an ice fishing house without the ice fishing.  We love it because we've made so many fun memories there.  Here are some pictures from the first week of this year's festival.  The theme for our Art Shanty is "Be Mesmerized By Banned Books."

In past years, our shanties have included Huldufolk Houses and a wedding chapel shaped like a giant tube of chapstick.  Here are some images, if you want to walk down memory lane with me.

Still Thinking About Elf Houses

 Even in the dead of winter, I'm still thinking about elf houses.  Summer is my prime building time, but today I was asked to make a lantern in the clay studio.  A natural shape for my lantern came easily to mind: this little elf house. Here's to warmer days!

This past weekend was tinged with a bit of sadness for me.  We disassembled out Holidays on Nicollet Window.  Its true - the holidays are over.  This time of year is always a little bit disorienting don't you think?  Well for now, I'm saying goodbye to Mole and Ratty!
