 I'll be at the Art Shanties Festival again this weekend with our Chapsicle of Love!  Last week was a blast and this weekend looks to be even better.  As I get ready for a new round of free vow renewals, marriages and joyous declarations of singlehood at the Art Shanties Festival, I thought you might like some behind the scenes pictures of the installation.  The snow was deep!  It was not easy!  But Love is always worth it!

This weekend we started a new adventure!  Art Shanties 2023 began!  The festival runs for four weekends, 10-4 each day.  This year we're at the festival with our monumental tribute to love and lip balm.  Our Chapsicle of Love stands 7 feet high.  At the Chapsicle of Love you can get married, renew your vows, or declare yourself joyously single.  All for free!  This first weekend I presided over 6 vow renewal ceremonies and 3 declarations of singlehood.  This one little kiddo however, wasn't very excited about marriage - lol.  I remember feeling that way in my late 30's too.

Cold weather survival: Baking

 Things are looking very jolly out at the elf house in my garden.  I love the way the snow transforms everything.

In my mind, one of the best ways to keep a house warm is through baking!  This is a new cookbook I'm excited about.  It has all types of traditional breads and a much coveted recipe for Icelandic Vinarterta Cake!  As I bake my way to warmer weather, I'll share my triumphs and failures with traditional Nordic Cooking. It will keep me busy until the Spring thaw when I can start building elf houses again.

Elves are Just Fine in the Snow

 Some folks have asked me how the elves fare in the snow.  Don't worry folks, they are from Iceland!  In fact they like it a bit cold.  I captured this picture of my local elf house when the snow let up.  This sure has been some wild storm we're having!
