A Jolabokaflod Well Spent!

Last night we celebrated Jolabokaflod - and Icelandic tradition I really love.  Icelanders exchange books and chocolates and spend the Christmas reading.  I tried to share the joy with my own house elves (two pugs) but they are not allowed to have chocolate.  They did seem to enjoy the book.

Today is Christmas Day!  At the end of it, my wife took a big long nap!  Christmas was wonderful and she deserved it.  Believe it or not, our winter busy season is upon us.  We've appreciated the pause that Christmas and Jolabokaflod gave us.  Merry Christmas!  Happy Holidays to All!

Before the Snow Flies!

We are delighted to be selected as Art Shanty Artists for the 2024 Art Shanties Festival at Bde Uma in Minneapolis!  This will be our third year!  Art Shanties really gave us our start with Huldufolk houses, when they included us in 2022 and asked us to build an on ice Huldufolk village.

This year's art shanty doesn't look like much yet, but we are working hard before the snow flies!  I promise it will be a lot of fun!  Art Shanties runs the last two weekends of January through the first two weekends of February.

Big Reveal! Elf Houses at Windows on Nicollet

After months of work, I can finally reveal our Holiday Windows on Nicollet display at the Welcome to Minneapolis Center!  Our window features two beloved figurines from beloved Dayton's Holiday Displays of the past - Mole and Ratty, friends from Wind in the Willows.

Getting the Family Tree - Fun with Tomten

My wife loves all things Christmas, so we put our tree up fairly early each year.  This year we had a light dusting of snow, which made the trip to the tree farm particularly beautiful.

My favorite tree farm has a fun elf-related activity.  They have a number of Tomten that they've hidden all over the property.  Each Tomte has its own name and new hiding spot each year.  It adds a bit of Scandinavian fun to the hunt for a Christmas tree.

Once all the Tomten were found (some are very sneaky), we took our tree home and decorated it for the holidays.  I hope you also can find some magic this holiday season!
