Who is the round door for?

 

In my last post, I shared that I was working hard on an elf house commission for the Windows on Nicollet Project in Minneapolis! Windows on Nicollet is a special holiday project that will feature 10 decorated windows inspired by the beloved 8th Floor Holiday Shows from Dayton's Department Store.  Each artist was assigned a beloved figurine from past shows.  

I was over the moon to get assigned Mole and Ratty, best friends from the 1995 Dayton's Holiday Show!  I was so happy that I made Ratty a special round door.

The Windows on Nicollet debut on November 25th!  My project will be there along with so many other creative windows.  Locations include:

We're as busy as Elves at my house!

I've been asked to make two very special elf houses for Holidays on Nicollet in Minneapolis this year.  I need to keep things under wraps until November 25th and the grand opening.  But I can share a few special details - like this round door that will be a perfect fit for one of the house's new inhabitants. 

Halloween Raku Fun

 I recently had to chance to make some raku pottery with my youngest son.  Raku is a fun and unpredictable process involving an outdoor kiln and rapid firing of the pottery.  You have to work fast and carefully to move the red hot pottery from the kiln.

Flare ups can be pretty dramatic during this process

In the end, my son and I made some pretty cool Halloween themed pieces.  Here is a little ghost and a monster with tusks and a top hat, that my son fired.

Cool Autumn Nights & Elf Houses

 I love these cool Autumn nights before the first frosts.  I have my family's own personal Huldufolk house all lit up for the longer evenings.  Enjoy the Fall - truly one of the loveliest parts of the year!
