I recently had to chance to make some raku pottery with my youngest son. Raku is a fun and unpredictable process involving an outdoor kiln and rapid firing of the pottery. You have to work fast and carefully to move the red hot pottery from the kiln.

Cool Autumn Nights & Elf Houses
I love these cool Autumn nights before the first frosts. I have my family's own personal Huldufolk house all lit up for the longer evenings. Enjoy the Fall - truly one of the loveliest parts of the year!

Annual Halloween Warning
Time for my annual Halloween warning about things that may look like elf houses, but are not elf houses:
Halloween is a confusing time of year. One helpful warning about some small houses that may look like elf houses, but definitely are not! If the elf house you are approaching suddenly stands up on giant chicken legs, be advised this is NOT and elf house. Most likely you've stumbled across Baba Yaga. Baba Yaga does NOT grant wishes and is known to eat people. Avoid her at all costs.

Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!
Yesterday, we had some great news about future elf houses! I can't share that yet, because its top secret. However, I can share the Halloween fountains I have been making. Halloween helps me get my creative juices going. My family loves everything about the season. These fountains show Halloween ghouls that have had maybe a little too much fun at the party. Under black light, they glow! I can't wait to welcome trick-or-treaters this year, with these guys in my front yard!

Halloween Prep!
Things are really really busy at the workshop. We've decided to go all out for Halloween this year with decorating the house. Here's a sneak peek at what I'm currently working on. I'll post the final pictures when I install next week.

Its the First of October!
This is a special post on the First of October! I love it! I love everything about October- we spend our time getting ready for trick or treaters and towards the end of the month, I volunteer as a chainsaw killer along a local parks "haunted trail" fundraiser. The Halloween spirit event gets into my art. Here's a little pumpkin sculpture I just put together in the studio.
