Good Day for a Move!

The elves have had a terrific time at Purgatory Creek Park in Eden Prairie.  They have loved your visits and letters.  But the time has come to move.  Today we packed up the house and said goodbye to the creek.

It wasn't long, however, before we started setting up the elf house in its new location.  Can you find the elf house in its new location?  We're still in a park.  Still in Eden Prairie.  Hint, if you want to visit, you might consider bringing your sled!

Nordic Parade!

A family friend invited us to see her two girls march with the Anoka High School Marching Band.  There was no football game, just a bunch of bands from all over the state competing to put on the best show.  There were props and dancers and lots of flag waving.  All in all a pretty cool evening.  With my love of all things Nordic, I have to share here the "theme" for one of the bands: Vikings!  They even had a enormous Viking ship that they wheeled on the field.  We were all so impressed!

Woodworker's Journal - Find Me in the Nov/December Issue!

As an avid long-time reader of Woodworker's Journal, it feels a little like a dream come true to see my work in its pages.  I'm honored.  In the Nov/Dec issue my Icelandic Elf Houses are featured in the "Shop Talk" section of the journal.  This feels like an early Christmas gift to me!

Vandalism - The Trolls Struck Again

I recently found out the house in Rochester's Slatterly Park was vandalized.  I went down to fix things up and it was heartbreaking - someone had tried to pull the house off its base and wood had been stripped off.  The chimney, doors and windows had all been smashed.  I put in about 6 hours to fix up the house before the winter darkness fell.  Hopefully I can finish renovations soon and get the trolls moved out and the elves moved back in.  Man, I'm so sad.  This was one of my favorite houses.  Here's a picture of the house from happier times:

IMAGE Art Show - East Central Regional Arts Council - Elf House

This past week, I had the chance to share my sculpture with some new crowds!  The IMAGE Art Show from the East Central Regional Arts Council was a lot of fun.  I'm very grateful for the opportunity to present a brand new elf house at the event.  Since this event was indoor, I got to go a little "wild" with owls, moss and mushrooms galore!

Here are some pictures of the house from a fun night.

The fun is always in the details!
